GYOKURO STUDIO’s "Majority Rules" Nominated for Venice TV Award 2026 in Reality TV Category

Nippon Television Network Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Operating Officer: Hiroyuki Fukuda; hereinafter "Nippon TV") is pleased to announce that its original reality show "Majority Rules," produced by Nippon TV's Gyokuro Studio, has been selected as a nominee in the Reality TV category at the prestigious Venice TV Award 2026, which honors outstanding television content worldwide.

The Venice TV Award is an international television award held in Venice, Italy. In 2026, television content from 25 countries was awarded and nominated, earning high acclaim as a global platform that celebrates creative excellence and innovation across the international TV industry. In the Reality TV category, leading and highly discussed titles from around the world were selected, with Nippon TV’s "Majority Rules" being nominated as a finalist—the only Japanese entry to achieve this distinction.

The Venice TV Award announces its Category Winners and Finalist Nominees simultaneously. "Majority Rules" was unveiled as a final Nominee alongside three standout productions from global content powerhouses: the United States, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.

Broadcast on Nippon TV on Saturday, February 21, 2026, "Majority Rules" is a social experiment reality show focused on the psychological warfare between the majority and the minority, serving as the debut title from Nippon TV’s Gyokuro Studio. Participants are forced to make a series of crucial choices within a group, where belonging to the majority is the ultimate key to survival.

The human drama fueled by strategic maneuvering and the constant risk of falling into the minority has garnered significant attention. Format sales for the show have already commenced internationally, drawing strong early interest toward local adaptations overseas.

Gyokuro Studio was established within Nippon TV last June as a specialized studio dedicated to developing concepts tailored for the global market. Actively pursuing co-creation with top creators and production companies both domestically and internationally, the studio has developed and broadcasted 10 original formats to date. Gyokuro Studio remains committed to delivering premium Japanese formats that resonate with audiences worldwide.
